HISTORY OF THE BRAND
(VOTED BEST COMMUNITY NEWS PAPER FOR THE LAST 5 CONSECUTIVE YEARS – PMR AFRICA)
Our First Edition August 1976
Lenasia Times was established by Waheed & Fatima Camroodeen in August 1976 in a town called Lenasia, hence the name Lenasia Times. It was the first Indian Community newspaper. As the years went by the paper grew very popular amongst the Indian Communities. The demand of the newspaper grew and Mr Camroodeen decided to start other publications in other areas like Eldorado Park, Laudium, Actonville etc. Due to the lack of men power it was handed over to friends, which to this date the publications still exist. He than decided to keep the Lenasia Times and extend its readership to all the Indian areas of Gauteng at the time which was Lenasia, Fordsburg, Mayfair, Roshnee, Azaadville, Actonville and Laudium. The paper was posted to subscribed readers in India, London & Dubai on a monthly bases.
Years later many others followed, came and went, but the Lenasia Times stood the test of time.
In 2007 the brand broadened its horizon by introducing an individual motoring supplement to the publication which turned out a huge success.
In 2009 is the year when the next generation stepped in to uphold the name of this well known publication.
In 2011 a very informative travel section was introduced to the publication. It was also the year the steps tried 30 years ago was started again and the Soweto Times was introduced. With the success of the Lenasia Times & Soweto Times in 2012 the Eldorado Times was introduced & thereafter 2016 the Benoni Times & Northern Times.
With the great success of the brand we have 5 successful publications, of course with help of all our readers & consistent advertisers.
